TEXT: 1 PETER 2:1-25*
MEMORY VERSE: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” (KJV) (1 Peter 2:9)
We need a proper understanding of who we are in Christ in order to live the way God wants us to live and to enjoy all that God has in store for us. We are referred to as a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people in this text. We are not here by accident. We are chosen by God. We are not just priests; our priesthood is with royalty. That means we are kings and priests, as the Bible tells us in the book of Revelation chapter 5 verse 10. We are a holy nation. We are a nation within another nation. Above all, the Bible calls us a peculiar people. We are precious, we are unique, we are special. We are not mediocre or paupers. We are special, we are peculiar. It does not matter if others do not think of us this way; we must see ourselves the way God sees us and we must carry ourselves with that mindset.
The reason God revealed who we are is so that we can show forth the praises of God. He called us and decked us with His glory so that our lives can give praise to His name. So that those who do not even know God can bless the name of the Lord just because of our lives. He called us out of darkness, from the kingdom of Satan, and brought us to His marvellous light so we can live a marvellous life. We are no more in the kingdom of darkness; we are now in the kingdom of God, we are now in the marvellous light. That is why we must always swim in the light of God. The Bible says, the entrance of His word gives light to the simple. We need the light to walk in the fullness of all that God has in mind for us. We were not referred to as a people in times past, but He made us His own people because of His mercy that we have obtained.
WISDOM NUGGET:
You are not a real person yet until you come to the marvellous light of Christ.
PRAYER POINT:
I receive grace to manifest Your glory and power all the days of my life in Jesus name.
