WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?

TEXT: MATTHEW 26:1-75

MEMORY VERSE: “When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also that this woman hath done be told for a memorial of her.” (Matt 26:10,13 KJV)

The most certain thing for everyone on earth is that one day we will leave this world. Whether we like it or not, and no matter how far off it may seem, we cannot be here forever. One day we will answer God’s call into eternity. Death is real, heaven is real, and hell is real.

No matter how rich or poor, or how influential you are—peasant, prince, or priest; single or married; young or old—one day you will leave this world. Whatever values you lived for will be spoken of when you are gone. What legacy will you leave behind? In what ways would you specifically want to be remembered? Pause a moment and write what you want your wife, children, co-workers, fellow citizens, friends, and church members to say about your life, your love, your commitment and dedication, and your zero tolerance for corruption. Will this world miss you, or will it forget you ever came?

We are not supposed to merely exist, but to live. You are only existing if all you do is amass wealth for yourself, loot public funds, buy a fleet of cars, and show no concern for the poor. What posterity are you leaving for your children and your children’s children? If you steal money to secure your future or theirs, consider the aftermath. The principle of sowing and reaping applies to every area of our lives.

WISDOM NUGGET:
You are remembered for two things: the problem you solved and the problem you created.

PRAYER POINT:
I come against every form of discouragement in my life. Lord, help me be all that You want me to be, in Jesus name.
