FRIENDSHIP IS NOT BY FORCE

TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 13:1-33*

MEMORY VERSE: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (KJV) (James 4:4)_

Life is all about what we choose and what we refuse. It is our decision that actually determines our destiny. Your greatness in life will be largely determined by your ability to choose the right friends and refuse the wrong ones. Not everyone can be your friend. You may like them, but if you are not going in the same direction, you cannot afford to make them your friends. Friends can make or mar your life depending on the kind of friends you make. Your friends can add to you or subtract from you. You must be very careful about a depleting relationship that drains you of your spiritual strength.

In 1 Corinthians 15:33 the Bible makes us know that evil communication corrupts good manners. The kind of words you hear constantly will certainly have effects on your life. Do not keep company with people who are given to negative words or people who are negative-minded. Walk with people who think and see possibilities in spite of the obstacles. You cannot afford to walk with people who are jealous and unhappy about your success and progress. Do not walk with people who cannot help you to rise or help you to achieve what they have achieved. Friends who keep the secrets of their success and achievement away from you are not praying that you succeed in life. Any friend who cannot help you to rise would certainly be glad when they see you crawl. Iron is supposed to sharpen iron, and a friend is supposed to sharpen the countenance of his friend. Friendship is not by force; you must go the extra mile to make the right choices. This is because, whether you know it now or not, your friends could affect you positively or negatively. Proverbs 13:20 says, _”He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”_ A friend that has no value for what you value or disrespects what you respect may not be the right person for you.

WISDOM NUGGET:
There are bad ships and good ships, but the greatest ship is friendship.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, I receive grace to make the right choice at all times. Father, connect me to the right kind of friends that will enhance my destiny, in Jesus name.
