TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:1-32
MEMORY VERSE: _”That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”_ (KJV) (Ephesians 4:14)
The problem with many believers is that they are not ready to take responsibility for their lives. They would rather have people do things for them than to take responsibility by themselves. One of the greatest favors you can do yourself is to learn to take responsibility for your spiritual growth. You must be responsible enough to pray by yourself, study the Bible by yourself, and do a lot of spiritual exercises by yourself without looking for someone who will help you or lead you to do that. Today, I hear a lot of funny stories in the body of Christ. The reason for many of these is because people are not growing spiritually.
When you are not taking in a sufficient word of God daily, your spiritual man will be growing weaker and weaker. You will become susceptible or vulnerable to the deceptions of the enemy. The more your spiritual life goes down, the more the enemy will begin to creep in gradually into your life, and the more you will also become the object of attack in the hands of the wicked. That is why you must accept responsibility to grow up spiritually.
One of the benefits of growth is that it helps you to overcome the deceptions of the enemy. Some people will even think you are proud, but the truth is you are boasting in the knowledge of God that has been revealed to you because you now know who you are in Christ. There are people that will come to you and say some things, but you will not even be bothered to pray concerning it because you know who you are in Christ. I remember in 1986, shortly after I gave my life to Christ, a brother in our church then became one of my closest friends, and the two of us started having days of marathon prayers and all-night prayers together. Later, I could do that alone. Beloved, you need to grow up if you do not want to groan.
